Going to whistler in a few weeks..was wondering if there are any fun stops on the way from Seattle to Whistler BC?? Also; this time of year will the drive be bad? (snow-wise..) or do they keep the roads pretty clear there? Any suggestions for Whistler are welcomed!

Remember to factor in plenty of time for the border crossing (and take your passport or enhanced ID with you to avoid trouble coming back).

The Capistrano Bridge in North Van is an interesting stop if you've never done that before. And they have the BC museum of mining in Squamish. If you wanted to spend a few hours in Vancouver, try going to Granville Island and wander around a bit, or walk Stanley Park.

As for the drive, be prepared for winter conditions. I would hope the road construction is done at this point since the Olympics are imminent, but would expect that there are still places where the road is one lane each way.

I've done the drive before. I'd stop in Vancouver, that city is amazing and there is a ton to do there. I would also recommend doing the drive during the day because the scenery is fantastic. Te snow doesn't really start falling till late November so you should be fine.

for sure Kael M. has never pushed interior the mountains of British Columbia. As to your question. It does no longer harm to have a 4x4. it is completely available that the line to Whistler would be clean and dry to your trip even nevertheless it is likewise completely available that there will be important snowstorm at that factor of 12 months. the line is plowed often yet having pronounced that, in case you hit a typhoon the extra effective traction andpersistent administration you have the extra effective off you would be. Chains can generally be "strongly inspired" or mandatory whilst using by using mountainous areas interior the iciness.

not really. you could stop in bellingham or vancouver because you have to go through there anyways, so if you want to see anything in those 2 cities it would be convenient. the road up to whisler is similar to driving up to stevens pass. i'm not sure how it is anymore, but when quite a few years ago it was a 4 lane road i believe (2 lanes in each direction) but you have to remember they did a lot of improvements up there because the olympics are coming up, so i'm pretty sure they had to expand things to accomidate for the traffic that's expected. but they keep it pretty clear, or at least try to, just like here in the states.
